more snowy pics

This is what we woke up to this morning...

Pretty amazing snowfall. We lost power for a few hours, but unfortunately a lot of people are still without power, including my church. So Darryl invited me to his church and we got to hear JPT play.

winter in October!

We are having a major snow storm today (it's still coming down!). It's looking like winter out there, that's for sure. Maybe that is why my Christmas cactus is blooming! Isn't it beautiful? I went out this morning real quick and cut down my dill so it wouldn't get covered with snow. Right now it's in the dehydrator so I can store it for winter, and the house smells so dilly!!

It's a great day for being snuggled up inside!

Fall cupcakes and jam

Had a blast yesterday! Made these yummy and festive cupcakes for our movie night at church. Too bad everybody thought I bought them. Oh well, next time I won't use my Sam's box to transport them in!Also made this very yummy jam out of dates, figs, and prunes, and a little honey. I know it sounds gross, but it was so good and it was scrumptious with my homemade nut butter!
I also finished painting the nursery bathroom floor at church. I will take a picture of it next time I'm there, if I remember. It looks cool, and CLEAN (I scrubbed it)! The way the weather is looking today, I might not be at church tomorrow!! We are getting LOTS of snow!

Halloween fun at GBC

My sons look so cool!! In case you don't know, Kyle is the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) on Doctor Who. He did an amazing job getting the perfect pieces to this outfit. He looks so awesome (handsome).

Ryan is a Samurai...haha... He did a great job coming up with something to wear at the last minute. I can't see the pony tail, but it is back there.

Bed and Breakfast

Here's "my" new guest room at the Kayal's. It was lovely staying there on Wednesday night after our small group, after CBC...It had been a long day and it was wonderful not having to drive home. I might have to make a habit of staying there every time we have small group there.

Ethan

I know, I haven't written for a week, so here goes. I will have to make a few posts to catch up.

So, to start off, here are some pictures I got off Facebook of my grandson, Ethan.

Dear Ethan,

Some day I will be able to meet you and be a real grandmother to you. Until that day, I am praying for you and your mommy.

I love you,
Grandma

Today was a weird day. Had planned to go to Shiloh to spend the night, but things didn't work out that way. It took me nearly an hour to get there. Then I only helped with lunch prep for like 45 minutes. There were too many girls there helping so really I wasn't needed. I hung around for a while, had lunch on a swing, and then decided to leave, and then another hour to get home. Not sure if I will keep going back.

Here's some of the kids going through the lunch line. They loved the food (English muffin pizzas and french fries)..
I stopped at the Monksville Dam on the way back and took some pics. It was pretty cool.
This picture is the road over the dam. I drove over it just to say that I did.
Here's a picture of the dam from the other side of the reservoir. I stopped there first to take the picture.
See that little clearing in the upper left? That's where I was when I took the picture of the dam. This picture was taken from the dam looking down. It was such a beautiful day today. Lovely for driving north and seeing the colors of the trees.
When I got home Darryl took me to get my hair cut. It feels a lot better now. =)
Tomorrow I have Children's Church again. I hate missing 2 sermons in a row, especially when I know there is a really awesome sermon and Powerpoint coming! Oh well. I hope I can make the lesson nice tomorrow. I have no idea how I'm gonna do it.

Work Zone ahead

Here’s my new and improved work area at church! yay for a clean desk! I’m so happy. Clutter rattles my brain, so I should be functioning much better from here on out (I regret not taking a “before” picture). There still is a lot that can be cleaned out, but it sure looks a lot better just after spending a little bit of time on it! On Sunday I couldn’t even see a desk under all the junk that was piled up on it, and around it. Now it is beautiful!

One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches.

So, like I mentioned last time, I had a plan for Children's Church. I decided to scrap our lesson and do a lesson on Pastor appreciation instead. I think it went really well and it was good to teach the kids to appreciate what pastors do for us. Most people think Pastors have a really easy job, but since I work with one regularly, I can see how much he has to do on a daily basis. It's good for people to support their pastors by encouraging them, making sure their financial needs are met, and praying for them. I am glad I had the opportunity to teach the kids on Sunday and to make them aware of the importance of the pastoral position. We went over lots of verses and talked about different things that pastors do to take care of their people. The kids were very happy to make cards and pictures that we sneaked into his office with some cookies.
Made lots of goodies today for the boys. My granola bars turned out really good! So did the nutty butter that I made from almonds, walnuts and pumpkin seeds!!! So good! The chocolate chip cookies will be a hit too!

Nesting the empty nest

Grace Church Harvest Fest

Chilly fall days are here! We went to Grace Church’s harvest fest today. Had a little food, listened to a little music, and saw some old friends. But man, it was cold! It was nice to get out of the house, but we didn’t stay long.

I’ve been real busy cleaning out drawers, closets and cabinets. It has been a lot of work, but oh so very satisfying! I’ve also taken over the main bathroom upstairs and making it all my own. There is still so much work that needs to be done, and when it is I’m going to light some candles and take a nice long bubble bath!! Don’t know when that will be, but it’s now on my mental “to do” list!

Let’s see, tomorrow I am doing Children’s Church. Got some great plans for the kids!

Next weekend I am spending at Shiloh Bible camp making food for lots of kids! It’s gonna be cold and hectic, and a total blast!

Here are a couple of pictures of my precious sons! I’m so proud of them!!

party time!

Darryl and I had a really fun time shopping yesterday. He bought me a new ring and some clothes. If I lose any more weight nothing will fit me again!

Anyways, we went to Steve's birthday party today at Grace. It was so nice seeing some old friends and having dinner with them. It is nice to reconnect, and hopefully this time we can keep in touch. As a matter of fact, we might be seeing more of Barry when he comes to worship lead at my church.

blessed

I had such a fun day....at home with some nice metal playing, jumping up and down on my rebounder in the kitchen in between cleaning house and cooking. Here are a few things I made today.

This is pumpkin seed butter. I had so many problems with it, but I hope it will taste ok on my rice cakes.
This is a spinach pesto, which was just fabulous on our salad at dinner.
A nice batch of beef jerky....best tasting ever!
Darryl sliced up some sweet potatoes for chips but they didn't get crispy in the oven. Next time I gotta deep fry them!
Granola for my "Pay it forward" things. I will mail these out tomorrow.
Did I mention Darryl bought me a slicer? How cool is that? After I made the roast beef today, he sliced up 2 containers for lunch meat.
Finally finished off my cooking with a nice steak for dinner! It was so good! I had a blast today making food, and I got a lot of cleaning done too! Darryl says I don't know how to sit down and relax. And he's right. I always like to keep busy doing stuff. Maybe some day I will get lazy, but not yet. I got too much to do and have too much fun doing it! Tomorrow he is taking me shopping. Not one of my favorite activities, but he is getting me a new wedding ring since I lost mine a few years ago.
