First BBQ of 2022

Hilary & I made bacon wrapped pork tenderloins.  So good.

Stirring the BBQ sauce.

Another winner from Costco.

Happy faces!

I made ice cubes with some of my mint leaves.
We put them in our Long Island Iced Teas.

Ryan showed us his new guitar.  Pretty snazzy.

BBQ sauce secret ingredient.

We celebrated Kyle and Hilary's, and our anniversaries, plus Memorial Day.  The water temperature in the pool got up to 89... pretty wild.  We had a great day together.

Vegh family reunion

Darryl and I went to a picnic and met a lot of the Vegh clan. Many of them I didn't know.  Most of them are not in these pictures because I didn't take pictures at the park except for the first one.  But anyway, Darryl was finally able to give his 2 uncles the knives he bought for them back in Hungary in 2018.  It is the first chance we had to see both of them together.  The rest of the pictures are from a small "after picnic" gathering at Uncle Zolten's house.

Canadian money is plastic.

I missed taking pictures of a lot of folks, but oh well.

Just random things...

I was the first one in, as usual.

My new car!

So pretty!

Darryl is still fighting with the STUMP.

We have lots of these frogs.

This frog took advantage of the ramp that K&H got us.

Our funny farm

It's funny because we live in a "fancy" gated community, and yet Darryl is out there driving around on his Kubota and cutting down this huge tree.  We are going to replace it with 3 fruit trees.  So far we have 2 apple trees and one cherry tree.  We'll see what the future holds.

This is the monster River Birch.  The people who lived here before us planted about a dozen of them.  We already got rid of 3 of them; this is the 4th to go.  We still have several more in the front yard.

One-third of it down...

Two-thirds of it down...

We all forgot to take pictures from Mother's Day, so here is one I took later.  This is a beautiful bouquet that Ryan got me.  (A Joyful Heart 💜)

Last third down...had to drop it in our neighbor's yard.   Later on we will get a wood chipper and use the wood for mulch.  Darryl didn't lose any toes even though he was using the chain saw in bare feet.

Yesterday I made dandelion tea.  I probably forgot to mention that I also made some salads with the leaves.

Oopsy, I waited a little too long to repot this one.  Poor thing.

This is the Elephant Ear plant that Kyle & Hilary got me.  Very cool self-watering pot too!

Today I made pine needle tea.   It has more vitamin C than a lemon.  It also has vitamin A.  Good thing I have lots of pine trees.  😋

This is a wind chime that Darryl got me for Mother's Day, even though he already gave me a humming bird ornament!  I love this.  It sounds amazing.  It feels right at home in my garden.

Here's some of my garden.  I planted 2 blueberry bushes, tomatoes, jalapeños, peas, beans, radishes, turnips, cucumbers, lettuce, onions, asparagus... and I forget what else.  I'm just trying out some different things this year.  I want to make our yard more edible instead of just having pretty plants.

Our gazebo has 4 planters, so I'm trying some veggies in those too, instead of flowers.

Here's the beautiful humming bird ornament.

We are having a temporary hot spell right now.  It was 91 yesterday...our pool is not ready yet.  But sooooon!!!  I love how our yard is reflecting our tastes more than it did when we moved in.  I love that we are trying to grow our own food.  At least some of it.  This is a great adventure!  Praise God that we are able to plant things.

Ft. Myers Beach get-a-way

Darryl & I went on a quick get-a-way to Florida for some much needed sunshine and refreshing.  It was wonderful.

Best Lobster Rolls ever.

Right on Estero Island...

The beach was amazing and the water was so inviting.

This is the walk-way to the sand.

Grouper tacos

One of the balconies on our condo.

We took a trip over to Ft. Lauderdale to spend time with Dan & Judy.

Children's paintings; and our reminder which way to turn when we got off the elevator to go to our "room".

This is where we hung out while waiting to go to the airport...even though it ended up taking us 2 days to get home because we got stranded in Charlotte, NC due to tornado warnings.  We had no luggage and we were exhausted from spending the day at the airport.

Emblem on the side of the airplane when we boarded (American Airline).

One more stop in Chicago.

This is what I saw when we got home.  So pretty.

Yesterday the kids came over for Mother's Day but we all forgot to take pictures.  We had a good time and even got to hang out by the fire pit for a while.  I love my kids.  Too bad I didn't hear from all of them...
