Our fascination with Tommy!

We love our little Triassic Triops. Here is a pic I took yesterday.
And the video is amazing! Kyle did a much better job of it than I did! You gotta watch it. It's Tommy eating his food. Really neat.
(Please excuse the one little interruption in the background!) lol

Homeless Shelter

It was a very quiet and uneventful week while Darryl was away.

Yesterday we went to the homeless shelter to serve meals. We got there 15 min's late, which is unusual for me, because I am always on time. But I guess between the rain and the traffic, and then the construction (I had to look for a parking lot and then walk back to the shelter), it couldn't be helped. We totally missed the first meal, so I felt bad about that. All we could do was hang around until it was time to serve the second meal. In the mean time, we kind of felt like we were in the way.

It was a strange experience, to be honest. I don't think much about people who are needy, and I didn't realize how many homeless and hungry people there are right near to my home. It makes me wonder why they are homeless, how they got in that situation. I hate it that I can come up with so many reasons for it in my head, and they are probably all wrong. They all seemed to be such nice people, pleasant and very grateful for the food.

Anyway, I'm glad we went. I'm glad the boys got to go see the place, serve the people, consider those less fortunate than themselves, and to remember how much God has blessed them.

The ride home was horrendous. A 30 minute ride turned into almost an hour and a half. I was frazzled by the time we got back.

Tomorrow after church we are headed to another event, a bike marathon for M.S. Kyle is going to entertain them, which he isn't exactly thrilled about, and Ryan and I are supposed to be cheering for the bikers as they cross the finish line, and hand out medals.
I hope it's a good day.

Eph. 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Tommy swimming :)

I did this video so you could see how cool he is.

But I doubt that he will ever get big enough to hold in my hand.

Party time!

We had a great time at a party last night. Lots of people to talk to and TONS of food to eat. We enjoyed plenty of both. And of course the boys enjoyed the girls' company. Or maybe it was the girls who enjoyed the boys' company... lol

It's great to get together with folks who love the Lord.

Ryan sang a couple of songs. This is the only one I recorded.

CLASSIFIED DOCUMENT

TOP SECRET: #JFIGORJGR
by Special Agent, Kyle Vegh

What you are about to hear might scare you, might even make you go insane.

We [all parties involved will remain nameless, besides myself] have been working in the labs for the past few months working on something... something big. This experiment was planned to remain completely and utterly shrouded in secrecy; nobody was to find out about it. Unfortunately... due to some... "change of plans", you might say, we have been forced to reveal our creations to the world.

Everything was going according to plan... we attained the cultivated eggs, the proper tanks, food, and artificial environment needed for this; it was all perfect! The creatures hatched, we fed them precisely what they needed, and they grew quite rapidly. After only a few days, the largest of them developed cannibalistic behavior, devouring his own species right before our very eyes! Fortunately we were able to keep him contained enough to not eat more than one of our specimens, else if we didn't, our entire plan might fail then and there. But, after all this, something still went wrong.

We still do not know what is happening, but quickly all specimens are dying; the majority of them in fact! We are only left with one sole specimen, the smallest of all that hatched. The codename of the last survivor is "Tommy". If only there was something we could do about the rapid decline in our small population of creatures, but alas, there is nothing we can do. If "Tommy" dies, all we will have left to do is attempt the same experiment next summer, for the Triops, our specimens, can only hatch in a very strict climate.

All we can say is, we anxiously wait, pondering the posibility of our last specimen surviving, and hoping he does.

Sad day :(

3 of them died today... the 3 biggest ones. Maybe I fed them too much, I don't know. Maybe they ate themselves to death....

The littlest one is still alive. We call him "Tommy", after Tommee Profitt, because he was the littlest one after his Biggest Loser competition....

So, little Tommy is still swimming around. Who knows? Maybe Tommy likes having the whole tank to himself now. He seems quite happy.
