Affirmation

Today our pastor was talking about "affirmation." It was a reminder to us to find something encouraging and uplifting to say to the special people in our lives. Whether it’s your kids, or a friend, or spouse, let’s try to pick out their strengths, their best qualities, and tell them about it. Maybe there is somebody in our lives that feels insecure, or disappointed, or like a failure. Maybe all they need is a word of reassurance from us.... wouldn't that be nicer than allowing our pride to prevent us from speaking those kind words? It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to bring joy to someone when their heart is hurting. It's such a small thing, but it can turn tears to smiles.

I hope that we can pay more attention to other people's feelings, rather than just thinking about our own selfish needs all the time. Let’s try to guard and protect them "as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings." People are worth the effort, especially when we love them, right?

So, go out there and make someone smile today..... you'll be glad you did. Well, go on, do it!

Here are my sweet boys playing a new game their dad bought them. I'm glad Kyle is feeling better today.

Take your kid to work day

Today was the day that moms and dads are supposed to take their kids to work with them to show them what the real world is all about. And to show them what they do all day long. So, how many of you parents out there took your kid with you today? hmmm???

Since my kids are with me every day, today they looked forward to going to Darryl's work. Ryan went with him, but Kyle was sick. Ryan sat through 2 meetings, and he met a lot of people and just hung out and did stuff there with his dad. Darryl forgot to take pictures, so you have to use your imagination.

Since Kyle was sick, he slept all day. When bed got too boring, he slept on the couch. No matter how big they get, it still hurts to see them hurting. :( Poor baby. It'll be a better day tomorrow... for all of us.

I think we all had things we would have rather been doing today...

Making progress....

Fourth year and counting..... maybe this will be the summer we actually see grass back there. Ya think?

Fixing a flat tire.... what next? A visit from the EPA?

EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed

According to the Bill of Rights, we have certain freedoms in this country. These are freedoms which our president is elected to protect and uphold. Sadly, we are losing the freedom of speech in the field of science, specifically when it questions the teaching of Darwinism. We are losing the freedom to mention God, or intelligent design, or Creationism. Scientists are being “expelled” from their careers by simply mentioning the possibility of an intelligent designer.
God has already been removed from the classroom, and now from the science field all together. This is why many young people who go to public schools or secular colleges have turned away from God and have become atheists. The teaching of Darwinism leads one to lose their faith in God, lose their belief in eternal life, lose any moral compass, and come away with the belief that human life has no value. It is that kind of teaching that caused the holocaust, where millions of “inferior” humans needed to be exterminated for the good of humanity.
I applaud Ben Stein for the making of this documentary. It is clear that the media and the science field are working together to try to make us a Godless nation. If things don’t change, we will certainly lose our freedoms of speech and religion, and any mention of God might be considered a crime. Maybe that is where we are headed.

My sweet Dana

Here are some shots of Dana's visit..... we had a really nice time together. It was good to see her after so long.
(hehe, sorry Dana. Now see if you came over more often I wouldn't make such a big deal of it. )

We love you!

Talent Show

The Talent Show finally arrived. The boys did great!

Ryan sang his song "In Thee, O Lord."

Ryan sounded awesome. He gots lots of compliments from people who heard him sing 2 years ago....(and from people who didn't hear him sing). His voice has really matured a lot since then. All of his diligent practicing has paid off. Maybe this will open up an opportunity for him to sing at church, since the pastor commented that his voice was excellent!

The Yo-yo Guy

Everyone loved Kyle's act.... unfortunately I missed the opening line when he said, "Hi, I'm Kyle. I'll be your yo-yoer this evening." It was so cute. And I did an awful job of taking the video. The music stand was in the way, so I crawled on my hands and knees to get a better position. I ran into a little kid.... he's the one you hear in the background....

Then a bunch of girls shouted out to him, "We love you!"

At the very end, that is my very loud whistle.

I am so proud of both of my boys. What a blessing they are.

(at long last, here are the videos)

Life after WDW

It was really hard to get back to school yesterday and today, but at least today it was hot out, so we could do some of it outside. We enjoyed being in the sun.... it was just like being in Florida.

Teacher's lounge.

We decided to cook outside - our first time this spring.

I gave the kids haircuts that were LONG overdue.

Aww, that's much better.

My husband made me smile for this picture.

Our last day at Disney

Today was our last day on our 'magical' Disney vacation. lol It was pretty cool because we were each given a dream fast pass. That is pretty special. We didn't have too many things we wanted to do at Magic Kingdom, so we used a few of the passes and then gave the rest of the passes to another family we saw with 2 little kids.
We went on Big Thunder Mountain. It was pretty lame after going on Everest.

Here's Kyle putting on a yo-yo show in the men's room. lol :)
I heard they were blocking the door to watch. We decided to go on Space Mountain again. It was the most scary ride, and even after the second time, I still didn't like it.

Here's the cool monorail that we rode in.
Had to leave Disney today. After we had such a crumby beginning of the week, it sure turned out good. We had a great time here.

The last thing we did was go to Disney Quest and built our own roller coasters. We got to ride in simulators to see what they were like. It was fun, but they weren't very thrilling. I think I have turned into a thrill seeker. Well, it's been fun....
