crawling out from under the Mack Truck

Day #4 of the FLU.  I can't believe how sick I am.  But according to the doctor I might start feeling better in 2 more days.  Oh joy!  I'm trying not to get my germs spread around while Darryl and I eat supper and watch TV.  Aside from all the other aches and pains throughout my body, my lungs and vocal chords feel like they are all ripped up.  I see healing in my future....

making music and memories in WV

Darryl and I took a quick trip to West Virginia to celebrate Resurrection Sunday.  We had such a sweet visit with Mom and Dad, and Scott and Flo.  Although I ended up missing 2 church services, I'm happy we got to spend a few days down there with them.

I really enjoyed playing guitar and having my family sing along with me.  We sang Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art.  Darryl and I also did a song together.  Mom asked us to do more next time we come back.  Such a good time!

Let your heart sing while you're waiting

Today was a nice day.  Church was good.  People were friendly.  Missionaries were there.  Had good conversations.  Nice worship.

I was singing while getting my computer set up, and someone in the back said, "What beautiful singing!"  Aww... that made me feel so good!  Made me smile so big.  It only takes a small comment like that to encourage me.

Emma has also been encouraging me to learn the songs on guitar without the music to look at.  So last night and today that is what I worked on.  I think I am using the music as a crutch.  I think it's a great idea to actually learn the songs, and understand the chords so I don't need to always rely on the music.  That is a huge goal, but I'm gonna go for it.  I have a very intense relationship with Marty.  And my fingers look like it.  I just love hugging him and strumming him...

I will be doing that some more tomorrow.

Here's a great song I would like to learn.

my first open mic night!

Yay!  I did it!!  Here are the videos from tonight.

I did this one first.  I forgot to introduce myself.  Forgot to introduce the song.  Oh well.  What do you expect for the first time?

This is my second song.

It was a great experience for me.  I always say, you can't get better at being up in front of people if you never have the opportunity to do it.  So grateful to Emma for being such an encouragement and for inviting me to come sing.  The people there at the Caffe ala Mode were wonderful.  They were the best audience.  Several folks came up to either me or Darryl afterward to let us know they thought I did a really good job.

The guy running the music told me next time I come to do 3 songs.  I think each time I do it, I will become more comfortable.  I was happy to be singing Christian songs.  I think they really liked them too.
