I know, I haven't written anything in a really long time. I had a lot to say, but I figured nobody would want to read it anyway, so I kept my mouth shut.

For the past week I have suffered from a few serious bouts of sciatica.  It got so bad that I couldn't walk, or sit, or go downstairs, or do anything.  I think you get the picture.  I have never had it so severely!  Fortunately I learned a few stretches to do to make it ease up.  As I type this I am watching a commercial for Aleve.  Maybe I should try that.  lol

Today we had Tommee, Mike and Kaylee (and Joe) out to Preakness for our morning worship, and then back in the evening for a nice concert.  What a great group of people.  I'm so glad I was feeling so much better today and was able to go to church and the concert.  Darryl and I had a nice time.

Right now we are bracing for hurricane Sandy. See you on the other side.

the Monumental foundation of America

These are some of the pictures from our quick trip to Plymouth.  These first 2 are from a Restaurant called The East Bay Grille.  The food was VERY good, but it was a little more expensive that what we'd normally pay.  We did decide to splurge some because we got our hotel with Hilton points.

After dinner we walked along the wharf and talked with some fishermen who just hauled in their catch.  

This is a 16 pound lobster.  Yep, it really is.

We went to see the Monument to the Forefathers.  In one word, SPECTACULAR.  It was truly overwhelming to see this in person, and to touch it, to ponder on the words written on it, and the meaning behind them.  

The monument is an 81 foot tall granite structure, completed in October 1888.  

The men on the monument had eyes.

But the women did not. 

The pilgrims wives names are not listed on the passenger list.  Instead, they are just listed as "wife".

"...erected by a grateful people in remembrance of their labors, sacrifices and sufferings for the cause of civil and religious liberty."

Some of the faces have been worn off from erosion.

In 2001 the Monument became the property of the government of Mass.  Prior to that it belonged to the Pilgrim Society.

I read that the controversial Plymouth rock was identified by a 93 year old man who claims to have had family there when the pilgrims landed.  Nobody is really sure if this is the real rock.

The rock now sits in this memorial, right at sea level.

Ok, so I had a dark chocolate martini.  It is my first and last!

We took a nice walk along the Plymouth Beach.  It was so nice. 

Dinner at Mamma Mia's. 

I am very glad that we were able to take a quick trip up there to see the Monument.  It's a huge chunk of granite that brought Darryl and I to tears.  I wish every American understood the founding of our country.  The pilgrims didn't simply allow God in their platform....God WAS their platform.

zoom, zoom, crash, crash, crash, bang

This is how my CBC night got disrupted. Yep, my poor little blue car got plowed into by a drunk driver. He smashed into 3 other cars before he hit mine, which thankfully kept him from going straight across Preakness Ave. So, it was good that I was parked there. I did feel a bit sad when they towed it away. The guy from the repair place said the suspension was messed up and the one wheel that was up over the curb was bent. Now what do I drive until I get it fixed or get a new car? Darryl says we probably won't be able to get a rental because Insurance won't cover much of that. I sure hope he is wrong.

Here is where they are dragging the guy over to the police car because he wouldn't (or couldn't) walk on his own.

You can see in this picture how the driver hit Robin's car and knocked it sideways before striking mine.

Well, tomorrow we are headed to Plymouth, Mass. to see the National Monument to the Forefathers.  I'm pretty excited.  We might also get in some whale watching....haha...
