Old Folks "date"

Kids were away today so we decided to have a "date" day.
What does a date consist of? Well, after church Darryl worked on my laptop and I looked on adoringly, as any good wife would do.

After that DJ took me to Outback for the very first time. Had a nice ribeye steak and lobster tail dinner.
(And my very first bloomin onion.)

I live such a sheltered life.

I'm always right. :)

DJ went to a conference in Orlando this week.
He brought this shirt home.
It's mine now...hehe
What more needs to be said?

I Love New York!

It was a blast! We saw lots of things and did a LOT of walking. Got very tired legs.

We saw the place where Fox News is (Shep was broadcasting when we were there. Too bad we couldn't go in and see him) and NBC Studios, took a walk down Broadway, bought a t-shirt (see below), we almost went to see a show, but decided we didn't want to stay in NY that late at night. We were all exhausted as it was.
My Broadway t-shirt.

Here was our last subway ride of the day. It wasn't too crowded....but some of them were so crowded, we were all squished in.... lol

Inside Grand Central Station. It was amazing in there.

I realize this shot is pretty dark, but I had to include it anyway. I took one of the ceiling too, because it had the constellations on it, made you feel like you are outside. That one didn't come out at all.
Here is what the ceiling looked like, but I did not take this picture.
Walked past these beautiful horses on our way to get some authentic Italian gelato, which I had never had before. It was yummy!
Ate supper at Da Nico's Ristorante Italiano right in the heart of Little Italy.

Sidewalk vendors. This is something we don't see by us in NJ.
But I have heard they are over by Newark and Paterson. lol :)

Here's a cool building in Chinatown.
NY City's finest.....
This is from World Trade Center. Right behind this is ground zero (below).

* Ground Zero * Here are some shots from Rockefeller Center. Nobody wanted to go ice skating. You can see the ice skating rink in the background.

Here we are being protected by some huge Arch Angel.... maybe it's Gabriel.

Went inside St. John's Cathedral. The architecture was pretty amazing.

It's not too often you see such ornate carvings.

Got some lunch and ate on the street.

This is where the Beethoven concert was.
Here is the Pacifica Quartet performing Beethoven's complete String Quartets. It was crowded and we ended up sitting on the floor. I had a hard time not exploding with laughter! But it was really cool.

Here we are hanging out at Times Square. (I hate to be recorded.... don't know how to be serious) Very exciting to see all the lights and activity, not to mention the sounds and smells of New York City. A fun day.

I forgot to put this up when I posted the NY pics.... so anyway, this is a guy playing an electric violin for tips.

College prep

Let this be a lesson to me.....don't procrastinate!!!

Yes, it looks daunting, but trust me, it looks worse in real life. This is a pile of some of our school stuff that I am trying to sort through to come up with transcripts for the boys for college.
It could be worse...... right?
