going green

Hey Ryan, your room is now green! Hope you like it!

Darryl did a great job ripping up the carpeting, so I decided to start the painting today. We still got a lot to do, but we are going to concentrate on one room at a time till it gets done. Our goal is to have the house back together before May 15!

Ready to meet Jesus

Today we finally got our wills signed and notarized, so it's OK if we die now. We are ready to meet Jesus. What a good feeling!

Also today, Darryl got the deck all sprayed, and I finished painting my park bench (below). Then we emptied out the boys' bedrooms and piled all their stuff up in the computer room. All set to start ripping up carpeting now! woot!! What a nice change that will be for us after all these years. So glad we are finally biting the bullet, and hoping this will relieve Kyle of his terrible allergies when he is home. Here is Ryan's empty room. Need to paint it and pick out an area rug after we get hard wood floors.

same thing with Kyle's room...must get it done before they get home from college!

most of their earthly possessions piled up in Darryl's office!
piled up to the ceiling!
Here's my park bench "before"... although not totally before, because before it was all green and moldy...so technically this is after I bleached it and Darryl power washed it, and after I painted the wrought iron parts of it.
And this is AFTER the final coat (after the primer)...nice huh? We had to put it in the basement while it was drying because we thought it was going to rain.

So, pulling up carpeting is next on our list, but I don't think we have the energy to do it today.

2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Mark 8:36
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

from the winter that wasn't

We missed winter this year, and we're now rushing straight into some summer weather and getting ready for those lazy pool days! Had lots going on today.

We took down 5 big trees that were blocking our afternoon sun, and that was pretty fun. I posted vids of 2 of them. One of them got stuck in the other trees and didn't come down. Oh well, it will some day. But the rest of them Darryl got down exactly where he wanted them.

We also had some guys here putting insulation in our attic, and some other stuff I guess.

I started painting our little park bench thingy. So far I got the black done, and the primer done. But when it's finished it will be like an eggplant color. Should look awesome!

We also had to move the pool so Darryl could clean the deck to get ready to spray it with sealant.

See how pretty it is looking?

Here's our pile of trees!!

Tomorrow is more work. We hope to get the deck sealed, get the pool leveled and set up, get the park bench painted, and start ripping up the carpeting in the boys bedrooms (after we move furniture).
Oh yeah, we are also going to make a fire pit and put some of those big logs around it...that will be fun.

This is tree #1, the bugger that got stuck.
This is tree #5.

Look what arrived in our mailbox the other day. Yep, we were invited to Ethan's first birthday party. I'd say that's quite an unusual way to meet my grandson. But at least I will go and see the little fellow even though I will be a total stranger to him. I wonder how I should sign my card.

I just hope his party doesn't involve tattooing.

Don't you love the whole skull theme?

More to say later...

JESUS

bible verse

What feelings are conjured up when you hear that name? Some people get angry. Some get offended. Some mock and laugh. Yet this is the name that God gave Him; the Name that is above all names. It is the Name of the Holy Son of God, the Word that became flesh.

Philippians 2:9-11 9
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

“Jesus” is the name by which people are saved. Jesus is the perfect Son of God, who gave His life that we may have life. Jesus is the Creator, the Healer, and the Sustainer. At the name of Jesus demons tremble.

Acts 4:12
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Jesus is the only way to God. Without Jesus you cannot have a relationship with God. Without Jesus there is no salvation. Without Jesus you cannot go to heaven. So why do people hate Him so much? It’s because the god of this age has blinded them to the truth. Satan has been very successful getting people to believe that Jesus is nothing more than a swear word, or that their salvation status is a private issue. Let me tell you something, Jesus didn’t die secretly. He didn’t die privately. He died naked and broken on a cross to pay for YOUR sins. He loves you, but He won’t force you to love Him back. In fact, He will continue to love you even in your rebellion, and yet He still won’t force you to trust in Him. He will let you choose your own destiny.

What kind of a friend would I be if I didn’t tell you about Jesus, about what He did for you? What kind of person has the cure for cancer but doesn’t tell the very people who are dying of cancer? God forbid I see someone dying and I don’t tell them how they might have eternal life. I have life to offer them through Christ. I have hope to offer them through Christ. I have peace and joy to offer them through Christ. Without Jesus they have nothing. So please don’t tell me to keep my mouth shut. God forbid that you should face death without having the chance to be saved!! Once you are gone, there are no more chances.

There are only two types of people in the world; those who belong to God and those who belong to Satan. You are either trusting in Christ to pay for your sins and you are going to heaven. Or you are trusting in your own good deeds to get to heaven, and are headed to hell. Those who belong to Satan will try to shut you up if you talk about Jesus. Those who belong to God will try to tell as many people as they can.

faith vs no faith
trust vs no trust
heaven vs hell
light vs darkness
good vs bad
God vs Satan
believers vs non-believers

Jesus divides families. He divides friends. There is an eternal bond between believers. We will live together forever with Jesus. But relationships between believers and non-believers end at death. They will be divided, both here on earth and in eternity.

Matthew 10:34-36
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’

Luke 7:23
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

I pray that you will not be offended by the One who gave His life for you. I pray that you will allow His truth into your heart. I pray that you will embrace the Holy Son of God before it's too late. His Name is Jesus. Trust Him and be saved.

I can't live a day without God

Ryan's testimony of what God is teaching him. (listen to this before you listen to the song below)

I always appreciate Ryan's wisdom. We can learn a lot from our kids, if we will only listen to them.

Can't Live a Day Without You

Job 33:4
The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

The Grace Singers
We were so blessed to have the Grace Singers at our house! They did a performance at Preakness while on their East Coast tour over Spring break. How wonderful it has been to have Ryan here, and a couple of the guys from the group. I am so thankful that they came to my church and that I got to hear Ryan sing with them. They were just beautiful!
