In The Beginning

This is the song I wrote on our way home from Lake Superior last month. I was so overwhelmed by all that God has done, and His marvelous creation, that I had to write a song about it. Knowing that we are not just here randomly, or spinning wildly through limitless space, but instead, God placed us here with a purpose, makes me feel so loved and cared for, and protected. Knowing He is right above us is so comforting.  We are His "magnificent, incredible creation."   It was for us He died.

Revelation 4:11English Standard Version (ESV)

11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”
  • A flat earth requires a Creator, whereas the ball earth relies on the Big Bang, evolution, and billions of years.
  • A flat earth is described in scripture, while a ball earth is a theory of "science," perpetuated by NASA and the Vatican, among others.
  • A flat earth indicates that we are here on purpose, while a crazy spinning ball earth in the middle of 100 billion other galaxies suggests there are other forms of life out there.

But we know the truth, and that is that Jesus Christ died for the sins of man; man that was created in likeness of God.  There are no other life forms out there!  No intelligent life, no aliens, no nothing.  All the living things are contained on this flat earth.  And one day, there will be a new heaven and a new earth to take the place of the old ones.  We will live with God forever on a firm and fixed earth, not getting dizzy in "space."

Revelation 21:1-4English Standard Version (ESV)

The New Heaven and the New Earth

21 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place[ of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

In the beginning, God had a plan.  He will complete it by His hand.

ArtPrize 2016

Just a few silly shots from ArtPrize in downtown Grand Rapids.  It was a chilly, rainy night, so we didn't see as much as other years we've been to it.  But thankful that some of it was indoors.  This is our 3rd year of going to it.  Maybe we'll try to hit it up another night...

Grace Adventures - Ladies Retreat

So, I survived the ladies retreat last weekend.  The worship was really good, the speaker was super good, and the activities were fun...and the ladies were all very nice to me.  I chalk it up as a good weekend spent seeking God's will for my life, and growing some new relationships.

a flat disk with an upturned edge

The Shape of the Earth

Disregarding the dome, the essential flatness of the earth's surface is required by verses like Daniel 4:10-11. In Daniel, the king “saw a tree of great height at the centre of the earth...reaching with its top to the sky and visible to the earth's farthest bounds.” If the earth were flat, a sufficiently tall tree would be visible to “the earth's farthest bounds,” but this is impossible on a spherical earth. Likewise, in describing the temptation of Jesus by Satan, Matthew 4:8 says, “Once again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world [cosmos] in their glory.” Obviously, this would be possible only if the earth were flat. The same is true of Revelation 1:7: “Behold, he is coming with the clouds! Every eye shall see him...”

Nebuchadnezzar's dream

Jesus being shown all the kingdoms of the earth.

Jesus' second coming when every eye shall see Him!

Also, we must consider Job 38:14
The earth takes shape like clay under a seal; its features stand out like those of a garment.

The "features" would be mountains, valleys, hills, straight places; ie: the topography of the earth's surface.  I imagine it's something like this wax seal being pressed down under a signet ring.  As the ring is pressed down, it forms not only indentations, but also leaves a ridge around the circumference.

And that would perfectly match the description given by Swiss Physicist, inventor and explorer, Auguste Piccard, in 1931 when he ascended 10 miles up into the atmosphere in a hot air balloon.  He was quoted as saying of the earth, "It seemed a flat disk with upturned edges."

You can't deny that this is indeed interesting!

the sun is in the clouds

The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Psalm 19:1

That verse reminds me of Romans 1:18-21

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth [l]in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident [m]within them; for God made it evident to them.20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not [n]honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

If we open our eyes and look around at God's wonderful creation (earth, sun, moon, clouds and stars, and oceans etc.) we can attest to the fact that the earth is stationary and immovable, just as our sovereign God has told us in His word.

1 Chronicles 16:30: “He has fixed the earth firm, immovable.”
Psalm 93:1: “Thou hast fixed the earth immovable and firm ...”
Psalm 96:10: “He has fixed the earth firm, immovable ...”
Psalm 104:5: “Thou didst fix the earth on its foundation so that it never can be shaken.”
Isaiah 45:18: “...who made the earth and fashioned it, and himself fixed it fast...”

On the other hand, "science" would have us believe that we live on a ball that is spinning around at 1,000 mph.  On top of that they say that the earth goes around the sun at 67,000 mph.  On top of that they say that our entire solar system is moving along at a pace of 515,000 mph.  And yet we do not feel a thing.  We do not see any movement other than the sun and moon and clouds moving above us.

The Bible teaches us that the Sun and moon revolve around us, not the other way around.

Psalm 19:6
Its rising is from [a]one end of the heavens,
And its circuit to the [b]other end of them;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

Think what you want, but I'd rather believe God on this.

Romans 3:4
May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written,

So, take a look at that photo above and ask yourself if those clouds are 93,000 million miles away.  The obvious answer is no.  And if you think the photo is an illusion, then go outside and look at the sun in your own backyard.  Maybe it's time we all start asking more questions and doing our own research on this.

We Choose You - upbeat version

We sang my song at church this week.

I have really enjoyed being in the praise band at Frontline.  Here are a couple of pictures from Sunday.
